2022 NYSCA-A.R.T./New York Creative Opportunity Fund (A Statewide Theatre Regrant Program)
Overview
In partnership with the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), A.R.T./New York is pleased to announce the 2022 NYSCA-A.R.T./New York Creative Opportunity Fund. The Creative Opportunity Fund provides general operating support grants of $2,000-$5,000 to small professional theatres with budgets under $500,000 working throughout New York State. The program aims to distribute flexible funding to support theatres throughout the state with capacity building and stabilization and to increase funding opportunities for theatres who have been left out of mainstream funding opportunities because of barriers associated with racial, economic, disability, and sexual identity and/or geographic location.
The Creative Opportunity Fund is a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts. A.R.T./New York regrants NYSCA funds, and all applicants and grantees will interact with A.R.T./New York as their grant maker. Payments are made via electronic or paper check, depending on the grantee’s preference.
Please note: Applications are now closed for the year. The information below is for archival and informational purposes only.
The application for the next cycle of this program will be announced and open in Fall 2022.

Info Sessions
A.R.T./New York will hold live and virtual info sessions for the 2022 Creative Opportunity Fund. The info sessions are led by A.R.T./New York staff and will review the grant, eligibility criteria, and application process. Attendees will also be able to ask any questions they may have about the application. Attendees are encouraged to review the grant website and application prior to attending the info session.
Info sessions in Manhattan and Brooklyn will cover all three Fall 2021 A.R.T./New York grants (the Creative Opportunity Fund, the Small Theatres Fund, and the Strengthening NYC Theatres Grant), while info sessions outside the five boroughs will only address the Creative Opportunity Fund. Applicants are welcome to join any info session they may be available for, regardless of whether they are in the specified location.
A recorded info session will also be available to view here on the A.R.T./New York website beginning November 3. The recorded info session is captioned, and all slides are audio described.
Automatic captioning is available on all virtual info sessions. ASL interpretation, live captioning, and other accessibility services are available upon request for all info sessions. Please contact our grants team, Corinne Woods and Adam Mummery, at the [email protected] email at least 5 business days prior to request.
New York City Info Session Dates (Info Sessions will cover all three grant programs)
This year A.R.T./New York staff will be offering technical assistance in the form of virtual "office hours" with Director of Programs Corinne Woods and Grants Coordinator Adam Mummery. All applicants will be able to schedule a 25 minute session, during which they’ll be happy to discuss your responses to the questions in the grant application, look over potential work samples you're considering, talk through questions on your budget and/or budget notes, and answer any other questions regarding the grant and your application you might have.
Please be sure you have reviewed the grant application, eligibility requirements, and evaluation criteria prior to your meeting. You do not need to have completed responses to the application questionnaire before your meeting, but the more you have prepared the more substantial feedback they’ll be able to provide.
To book an Office Hours appointment, please click here. All appointments will be held virtually through Google Meet or Zoom between November 1, 2021 - December 10, 2021.
