2022 Strengthening NYC Theatres Grants
(Formerly the Nancy Quinn Fund)
A.R.T./New York is excited to announce the recipients of the 2022 Strengthening NYC Theatres Grants. This cycle, we received more applications for this grant than we have for any other grant program in A.R.T./New York’s history. Of the 190 applicants, $60,000 was distributed to 54 small theatres through this year’s program. The Strengthening NYC Theatres Grant Program builds on the legacy of A.R.T./New York’s Nancy Quinn Fund, which for over 20 years provided New York City’s smallest theatre companies with general operating grants to support their work and growth. As theatres continue to navigate their ongoing recovery from the coronavirus pandemic, we are proud to support New York City’s small theatres with these flexible grants.
The Strengthening NYC Theatres Fund provides theatres throughout the five boroughs of New York City with annual budgets under $250,000 with one year flexible, general operating support grants of $1,000-$2,000. Since the inception of the program, A.R.T./New York has awarded over $1 million dollars to this constantly evolving, culturally diverse, and artistically influential sector of our community. This year we utilized a consolidated application for all of our Fall 2021 grant programs to create an accessible and streamlined application process for applicants.
Recipients of the 2022 Strengthening NYC Theatres Grants were determined by a panel of theatre-makers from New York City. Nominations for panelists were solicited from the community, and 22 panelists met virtually to score and allocate funding. Congratulations to all our recipients!
