Topical Roundtable // Organizations Interested in ASL Interpreted Performances
Wednesday May 8, 2024 11am-12:30pm ET
Format: Online Only Location: Zoom
After completing a series of focus groups in the spring with sign language interpreters, interpreter directors and Deaf audience members, Hands On wants to hear from theater managers, marketing directors and others who have provided and/or are interested in providing interpreted performances for d/Deaf/hard of hearing audience members. Facilitated by Beth Prevor, Disability Advocate, Consultant, and Executive Director of Hands On, this roundtable is a space for A.R.T./New York members to discuss and share their experiences around the issues, barriers, challenges and successes of providing access and services for d/Deaf/hard of hearing audiences. We hope attendees will share past experiences with each other in a peer-to-peer learning space. Members can expect to be engaged with guided prompts including: Have you offered interpreted performances? What challenges and barriers have you found in bringing in audiences for these performances? What success stories do you have in providing these services? Attendees are also encouraged to bring their own questions about interpreted performances to ask the group.
All Virtual A.R.T./New York workshops, roundtables, and trainings feature automated captioning provided by Zoom. ASL interpretation and CART captioning services are available by request; requests must be made at least 5 business days before the event. For requests, accessibility information, or other accommodations please contact Ashley J. Hicks at [email protected].
